Interactive audiovisual installation involving a waterbed, horizontal projection screen, LeapMotion sensor, microcontroller and pressure sensor, and running via TouchDesigner and Arduino.
“zones of flow (iv)” is an interactive audiovisual installation that invites people to rest between two bodies of water: a waterbed and a back-lit projection screen, where moving images of water surfaces are projected. Lying down, the visitor is flowing and sandwiched between visual representations of water and a body of water itself – the waterbed – while also being surrounded by sounds, which add another dimension of immersion to the experience.

As part of the ongoing practice-based research project, the interactive artwork has been installed in two occasions, first at Bridgeport (Chicago) during ACM Creativity & Cognition, and second at the bOing! Festival, a family-friendly festival in Canterbury where 70+ visitors booked to experience the artwork. This was used as an opportunity to gather insights from the public about how they felt in their bodies before & after the experience.

bOing! Festival, Canterbury (UK)
During the family-friendly festival in Canterbury, 70+ visitors from all age groups experienced the artwork. They were asked to complete 2 body maps, one before and one after their experience, and invited to draw their full body silhouette on a collective 10 x 2 meter paper, where the figures overlapped, interwove over time.
